She is looking toward the light. There is only complete peace and calm. Her eyes are closed, because she is shutting out the complexed images and visual over-stimulation of life, still so overwhelming to experience. She is not yet ready to face the confusion of much reality. Her journey is like so many others who have survived tsunamis that shatter and forever change one’s existence. The moments of our lives pass before us, each in different ways, affecting the image of how we view ourselves. But we all experience the same emotions, the same fears, the same feelings of shame and failure. If we persevere, the light will eventually chase away the shadows. We will find our strength and regain our hope.
Like the Anasazi pot, we are survivors.
